How do marriages by clergy, ship captains and judges differ?

Clergy, ship captains and judges all have the legal right to marry people. However, the procedures may be different. Judges, for instance, may be much more secular than clergy-based marriages, and ship captains may be a slight mixture of the two depending on who is getting married (atheists vs. Catholics, for instance). At least, that is my guess.
